Courtney Marama
Courtney lives and works in Aotearoa New Zealand, where she studied jewellery design and manufacturing in Wellington. After her studies, she moved to the South Island to immerse herself in stone carving culture and learn lapidary skills.
Each piece Courtney makes prioritises an ethical approach, both to the environment and her Māori culture. Every piece uses locally sourced stone that she cuts by hand in her Waikato studio, and 50% recycled metals. As Courtney says, "I believe we need to truly respect our materials that come from Papatuanuku".
